FAQs What is the boundary to determine whether I should play in Bend North or Bend South Little League? The north-south boundary traverses east/west from
Greenwood and Highway 20 onto Galveston and Skyliners Roads. Why do I have to show an original birth certificate? The National Little League rules require that proof of age must be obtained. Proof of age will also have to be shown again if the player is selected to the All-Star Tournament team. The BNLL season begins on April 1, 2009. Teams will practice for approximately two weeks before games begin. How long is the season? Registration culminates with walk-in registration
at the Bend Outlet Malls on business 97 in late January. What is the cost to play for the season? You may register online before the season starts or at the annual in-person registration for the same cost: $75 for T-Ball and $85 for Pee Wee, Minor Americans, Minor Nationals, Majors, Juniors and Seniors. Late registration (at the Bend Field House) after the in-person registration is complete is $100. What will my child be provided and what will my child need to play? Bend North Little League provides each child with a full uniform (hat, shirt, pants, and socks) that they may keep at the end of the season. Your child will need a glove and appropriate footwear. How are we notified on what team my child will play? Coaches will be calling players by the first week of April. If you have signed up your child and not been contacted by April 1, 2009, please contact BNLL. What division will my child play? A baseball player's chronological age on April 30 of the year of play is his/her league age for the current year.
Any requests for a division change (play at a higher level or a lower level than age) will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Can my child be placed on his/her friend's team? For ages 8 and under, we try to honor as many requests as possible. Ages 9 and above attend skills assessments for evaluation and placement. This process helps promote the Little League goals of balanced teams and competitive divisions. Why do certain levels complete a skills assessment? Skills assessment is designed to allow coaches to review the ability of each player to support balanced distribution of talent amongst the teams. As much as possible, skills assessment encourages league parity and competitive teams. At this point, Little League does not cut players. However, the skills assessment does allow Little League to identify any player safety concerns and initiate a discussion with parents. All 9-12 year olds will attend one of two skills assessment days:
All 13, 14, 15 and 16 year olds will be assessed on Saturday, March 13. We will again be implementing a Player Pool program for all 9-16 year old divisions. If a regular season team is short players for a scheduled game, the team may draw extra players from the pool through the Player Agent. If your child is interested in playing additional games during the 2009 season, they are strongly encouraged to sign up for the player pool through their coach. Do all managers and coaches automatically return the following season? We appreciate all our volunteers...especially the managers and coaches! Each year, the Board of Directors selects the managers who best reflect Little League goals of fair play, sportsmanship, skill development and fun. Using input from players and parents, the Board determines which managers will be returning. There is no tenure serving as a coach or manager. All appointments expire annually. |
